|Organisation||Museums Computer Group|
The Museums Computer Group (MCG) is a non-profit association of individuals and volunteers who share a common interest in encouraging, improving and influencing best practice in the use of technology and digital platforms within the museum and heritage sector.
Each year, the MCG’s Museums+Tech conference takes place on a different digital theme – for example, the theme in 2019 was around ‘openness’. After each conference, the MCG uploads the presenters’ slides and you can find the archive of all of these on their events page.
The annual conference welcomes a wide scope of digital professionals from the museum, cultural and heritage sector and is both useful and insightful to all levels of digital skill and job level.
In addition, the MCG hosts an online discussion forum where you are encouraged to ask questions or post interesting ideas, conference calls, research and things of interest. The community is friendly and welcoming and actively posts on a regular basis.
If you’re unsure of something digital, want advice or are looking for input from other sources, this is a great place to start. You can either follow along or create a free account to join in the discussion and receive email updates when someone posts.
Although the Museums+Tech conference and the MCG are UK-based, they often invite discussion and delegates from museum professionals overseas, so all are welcome to get involved.
