Digital preservation workflows

Organisation The National Archives

The National Archive has comissioned guidance on creating digital preservation workflows, as part of their ‘Plugged In, Powered Up‘ digital capacity building strategy.

The guidance is aimed at supporting archives, but is still relevant for any collection holding institution. It gives guidance and practical examples of workflows for managing born digital content, which you can adapt and use for your own organisation. It also features actions for how to process and preserve born digital content, including using free software.

The guidance is easy to follow and it doesn’t require significant digital literacy to put it into action. They have also created a useful glossary which explains some of the common terms used within the guidance.
