Digital on a shoestring

This Medium blog post is completely packed with links and resources on creating web-based and in-gallery digital learning resources in-house and on a minimal budget.

This resource was written by Izzy Bartley –  Digital Learning Officer at Leeds Museums and Galleries (LMG). After joining the LGM in June 2017, Izzy was given the approval to redevelop the website My Learning ( which hosts free learning resources from the arts, cultural and heritage organisations, and is aimed at teachers.

Written from her own personal learnings, we think you will find this post incredibly useful if you are looking for:

  • Open source software and asset repositories, useful for creating (digital) learning resources.
  • Considering a web app for creating multi-media interactive images.
  • Detailing on how Powerpoint can be hacked to create online and in-gallery interactives.
  • Suggestions of where to go to upskill and find out more
