Krystyna Pickering at Royal Pavilion and Museums, Brighton and Hove looks at whether having the freedom of their own Tumblr account makes curators at one of Brighton and Hove Museums more likely to participate in social media. Previously, all social media activity was carried out by a dedicated team.
This case study is from Culture24’s Let’s Get Real action research programme and the project was so successful that the Booth Tumblr account has now overtaken the museum service’s main account. Krystyna explains the importance of training and the need to offer support without interfering in creative freedom. She also explains how writing Tumblr posts differs from blogging.
